Four years ago we bought a house in desperate need of love and attention, and got to work bringing it back to life. The plan was to give it a complete rehab, then sell it and reclaim all our lost weekends and evenings by traveling as many of the back roads and out-of-the-way places as we could manage, before deciding what to do with ourselves next.
"It will only take a year, maybe two," we confidently told each other. Nope, not even close.
Finally, though, we'd rebuilt everything there was to rebuild, made several pounds of saw dust, and touched every surface inside and out, from the roof to the basement floor. If you went to pick up paint for your own project and found that the store was out, that was our fault, sorry.
When the house went on the market, it sold faster than we could have imagined. It's been a whirlwind for the last month, but we now have a new (to us) home on wheels, and we're moving on!
